What is SEO?

What is SEO?

Wondering just what is SEO? Hear it all over the place but don’t know what it means? Let’s break it down.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It’s in play anytime someone opens up their phone and searches for something on a search engine like Google.

For example, when someone searches Google for “Austin web development companies'' or something more local like “web design company near me,” they will see results that are ranked in order of relevance according to Google. These are keyword searches. An effective SEO strategy from an SEO expert will make sure that when users search Google for keywords that describe your company, your website pops up.

Your SEO company should be effective at “talking to Google,” which means, letting Google know what you want your website to be ranked for. This is done through on-page and off-page SEO.

On-page SEO consists of the content on your website. This includes the copy on your web pages, your images and video content, and the content throughout your blog. It also involves making sure your site is properly built with quick load times and accessible pages so that Google knows how to index it in search results.

Off-page SEO strategies involve the ways your SEO company drives traffic to your website through other entities outside of your website. This looks like press releases, embedded links on social media, and “guest posting,” which is a blog you write for another quality website that links back to your website

Working with an SEO company can make sure your on-page content is SEO keyword-optimized, that your site is fast, and that you have quality websites linking back to your website for your off-page SEO. The right SEO company does this in a way that allows users to find your business quickly when searching for relevant keywords that describe your business.
